The security of your account is our top priority. Here are some tips on creating a strong password and staying safe online.
Create a strong Dave password
Go for strong and unique: Think of a password that's at least 12 characters long. Mix it up with uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid using anything obvious like birthdays or your name. How about something like '50BearsLookingForYou'?
One password per place: Try not to use the same password for everything. It's like having only one key for your house, car, and office – if someone gets that one key, they get everything! So, make different passwords for each account.
Be alert and cautious: Be careful with links, emails, or messages that seem fishy. If something feels off, it probably is. Tell our team right away if you see anything weird. And remember, never give your password or verification code to anyone outside the Dave app.
Be aware: Be careful who you share your information with, even if they say they're from Dave.
Keeping Your Phone Secure
Lock your phone: Always use a passcode, PIN, fingerprint, or face ID to lock your phone.
Keep things updated: Make sure your apps and phone's software are always up-to-date. Those updates often have important security fixes.
Securing Your Email
Strong email password: If you use an email with your Dave account, make sure that email password is also strong, and use multi-factor authentication if you can.
Protect your identity
We won’t ask for everything: After you sign up, we won't ask for your full social security number. Sometimes we might ask for the last four digits for verification, but that's it. Never share your full number or the last four digits outside the app or when calling the number on the back of your Dave debit card.
