Always make sure your legal name matches with the one you use for Dave. If you need to update your legal name on your Dave account, we're here to help make the process smooth and secure. To protect your account, this change is handled by our Member Success team and cannot be completed in the app.
How to change your legal name
- Have your documents ready. To make things quick and easy, please have a clear photo or digital copy of one of the following documents handy:
- An updated and valid government-issued photo ID showing your new name (like a driver’s license, state ID, or passport).
- A supporting legal document (like a marriage certificate, divorce decree, or official court order).
- Contact our Member Success team. You can reach out through the secure chat in the app or by calling the number on the back of your Dave Debit Mastercard®.
- Submit your documents. Our agent will walk you through how to securely send your documents for review.
What happens next?
Once our team verifies your name change, we’ll update it across your Dave account and mail a new Dave Debit Mastercard® to the address we have on file. We'll also send you a confirmation as soon as it's all done.
