To update or reconnect your external bank account to Dave, in the Dave app:
- Go to your settings ⚙️
- Scroll and tap Linked bank and cards
- Tap on your linked bank and tap Change bank
- Follow the flow to securely connect your bank
During the flow, you'll use the same login info you use with your bank. You'll be asked some security question, we'll verify your account should connect to Dave.
We’ll also ask you to link your external debit card, so be sure to have that handy.
If you're having issues with connecting your bank, restart the bank connection process and try again.
What are micro-deposits?
Dave supports many banks that instantly connect to Dave (via Plaid), without needing to wait for the micro-deposit process. However, there may be times when a typical micro-deposit process is required.
Plaid will make a single micro-deposit into your external bank account and then automatically verify it within one to two business days.
Tips and troubleshooting
- Make sure you're entering your most recent bank login information. Check the username and password you use on your external bank's app, then give it another try.
- If you have a negative ExtraCash™ balance you'll need to settle that before updating your bank connection.
- If you're seeing continuous error messages when attempting to connect, you may want to try connecting a different account. You can also sign up for Dave Checking and set up your direct deposit there.
Please note, Dave doesn't support:
- PayPal, American Express, Discover, Cash App, Credit Karma, credit cards or most prepaid accounts
- Joint or shared bank accounts
- Debit cards that expire within two (2) months. Be sure to add cards that expire in three or more (3+) months from the day you add it
