We currently do not support changing your settlement methods with an open ExtraCash.
While you cannot change your primary linked debit card or external bank account when you have an open ExtraCash, you can add funds to your Dave Checking account and settle that way. Once you add money to your Dave Checking account, we will use those funds to automatically settle your ExtraCash on your settlement date.
On the settlement date, we’ll settle your ExtraCash balance with the methods listed in your settlement agreement (shown when you take ExtraCash). If you don't have enough funds for settlement, Dave will transfer a partial amount from your accounts and simply try again later when you do have funds.
What if I want to use a different debit card?
While you won't be able to use a different debit card for your settlement, you can update it once your ExtraCash is settled via ACH or your Dave Checking account.
What methods are used for settlement and how long does it take?
Dave will attempt to settle the ExtraCash in the following order:
- Dave Checking account, it may take up to 24 hours to process
- Linked debit card, it may take up to 24 hours to process
- External bank account (via ACH), it may take up to 3 business days to process
Once the settlement completes, you can check your ExtraCash eligibility in the Dave app.
If the debit card used for settlement is unsuccessful, Dave will attempt to settle from your external bank account, which can take up to 3 business days to process.
Please note, business days do not include weekends or bank holidays.
