When adding your external debit card, it's best to add the same debit card linked to the external bank account connected to Dave.
To add your external debit card
- In your settings ⚙️, tap Linked bank and cards
- Tap + Add debit card and enter your card details
If you need to change your linked card, just tap on the current linked debit card.
Your card should be ready to be used to add money or withdraw from your Dave Checking account and also to transfer your ExtraCash™ advance.
If your desired linked debit card is not available to select from when taking an ExtraCash™ advance, you’ll need to link it to the account.
Go back to your Linked bank and cards, tap on the linked bank account, then tap on the Linked debit card, and link a different debit card for your ExtraCash™ advances.
Issues linking your debit card
If your external debit card has been declined when trying to link it, it means that the information you've entered is either incorrect or your issuer is declining this transaction.
Here's what to do:
- Confirm the details you're entering match the exact information on the card/account
- Make sure that the card is valid and not expired. If your card expires within three (3) months you won't be able to add it. You'll need to request a new debit card with a new expiration date before updating it in the app.
- Contact your bank to see if there are any blocks or issues with your card
If you encounter a Card previously used error, it most likely means that your debit card is already linked to another current or previous Dave account. To resolve this error, please contact Member Success.
